When an ecosystem has been destroyed or degraded, large-scale revegetation may be needed to ensure its recovery. Whether farmland, forest, or wetland, an ecosystem can be restored through large-scale planting or by removing the pressures that damaged it in the first place.

It is important to remember, however, that it is not always possible to bring an ecosystem back to its original state. 

What do we mean when we say a ‘degraded’ landscape?

A degraded or destroyed landscape is one when the environment has been substantially changed. This could due to a host of reasons, from land clearing, long-term grazing, mining, urbanisation, coastal erosion, the impact of invasive species, and more. 

Essentially, anything that damages an ecosystem’s composition and functionality, resulting in biodiversity loss, is a degraded landscape. 

What can we do?

We’re experienced in translocating plants and other elements from ecosystems that would otherwise be destroyed or degraded (such as through development) to new locations where they can continue to thrive, as well as in constructing ecosystems from scratch.

When completing a large-scale restoration or revegetation project, our goal is to create an environment that is once again self-supporting. Increasing this resilience and restoring our key ecological spaces also helps reduce the risk of natural disasters, assists with carbon sequestration, and mitigates flood and erosion damage.

• Thinning, if required 
• Weed management 
• Progress monitoring
